MK1 & MK2 Reefing Systems
Dinghy Genoa Roller Reefing
With our Flexible Reeling Tube in place you will have a fully-functional roller reefing system. The unique feature of this system is that it utilises a flexible reefing tube attached to the sail not the fore-stay. Whether you put two reefs in the main sail or one, there is no need to change the foresail, reef it instead.
When you have finished sailing for the day, furl the sail round the tube, remove the furling drum from the bow and unshackle the top swivel, all still attached to the sail, then coil as below and stow in the sail bag!
Rigging the sail is just as easy. Uncoil the sail, attach top and bottom and hoist the sail in the normal way using the halyard. (a good tensioning system is advisable such as a Highfield Lever to keep the reeling tube straight when rigged). The sail is ready to use when you need it.
Location plan for fitting Genoa Roller Reeling System
This reefing system is tried and tested but, like all things, safety is ultimately in the hands of the Helm and Crew. When the wind picks up having a reefing system will help you to remain in control but the Laws of Sailing always apply "Only go out in conditions you felt comfortable with and shorten sail earlier rather than Later."
The Flexible Luff Spar Reefing System is Patented under Patents GB2355703 & GB24 I 1386
